PRIDE and PEACE
Pride: it's not just a group of lions.
Several years ago, my sister took our dad to see her perform with her band. She is an awesome drummer and her group was the opening act at an event in the local park. Dad, being the easy going guy that he was, was just along for the ride to see his daughter perform. She placed him front and center, and took the stage. Her band was rockin' it and Pop stood there with his heart full of pride, surrounded by her friends and a sea of rainbow clad, happy people enjoying his daughters music. Never realizing he was at the Gay Pride Parade.
We laughed with our dad for years about his "First Parade" and all he could say was, "those people were beautiful". He had never been treated so well by a group of strangers. That is truly one of my sisters fondest memories of our dad. Well, it is time for "PRIDE" again this weekend in Reno. My sister won't be performing she will be selling "I'm A Blacksheep" T shirts. We have a cool new Peace T (in rainbow of course) for this event. We will be featuring a great assortment of "peace" jewelry from our sister company "The Honey Bead" as well.
Also, this will be one of your last chances to get one of our "Dare To Be Counted VOTE" T's while they last. It is so important to make ourselves heard this November by VOTING!!!!! If you are not registerd to vote, you can do so on this site. We have partnered with MTV's "Rock the Vote" to get people registered, just click on the red, white and blue VOTE at the top of this page and make your voice heard.
So... learn a lesson from our super "straight" dad, "those people were beautiful". His heart was always open to kindness no matter where it came from. And no matter where his daughter playied her music, he was ALWAYS Proud.
This picture of Sista Sheep sums up the event on the banks of the Truckee River. Fun was had by all. shall we say a picture is worth a thousand words!

Blacksheep Heros
If you check our black sheep sightings you may see the familiar face featured in this week's Blacksheep Heros. Ms. Becky Fische and her partner Jacque Jensen will scale a mountain in an extraordinary effort to raise money for Cancer. Here at the blacksheep Cancer is one of our least favorite words. We have lost our Father to it and one of our sisters is currently fighting her best against it. WE HATE YOU CANCER! But boy, do we love the people who work hard to raise money and awareness for the cure. That is where our heros come in. Long time friends of ours, Jacque and Becky are remarkable women. Last year Becky scaled the mountain to fulfill the last wishes of her good friend Sherry Miller. Sherry lost her battle with breast cancer and wanted her ashes to be set free atop the mountain she had scaled herself the year before. What an incredible gift.

Blacksheep Hits the Road Again
We traveled to Reno, NV to join the cool people who are daring to be different and GO GREEN. We packed up our new T-shirt
(super cute!) and attended the annual Earth Day Celebration at the park. What an incredible day. Snow was in the forecast, but, the puffy clouds parted, the sun shined bright, and the people came out in droves. They drank beer out of compost able cups made of cornstarch, (they looked just like plastic), listened to great music powered by solar panels, test drove battery operated scooters and cars, and of course visited with us. The Dare To Go Green Shirts were a big hit as were the Peace T- shirts. This was really our kind of crowd. Just a bunch of down to earth people enjoying a Sunday at the park learning new things. Don't get me wrong, as is with many of these events there were some crazies in the group and the "people watching" was spectacular, but all in all it was a fantastic day. Here are a couple of the fun people we met.

Hooray for Earth Day and remember DARE TO GO GREEN!!
